Hakka culture has gained increasing prominence in recent years with the support of Hakka people and the passing on of Hakka traditions. The spirit of perseverance and endurance that characterizes the Hakka people has also given rise to a unique artistic landscape that combines traditional elegance with modern creativity.
The 2009 Kaohsiung Hakka Cultural Festival will run from October 31 through to November 15. With "Hot Hakka " as the theme, a series of Hakka music competitions, children's story recitals, Hakka DIY, Hakka street markets and creative cultural enterprise seminars will be held to convey the spirit, art, history and culture of the Hakka people. The general public will have the chance to truly experience the diverse and moving parts of Hakka culture.
